Maxima Grupe has grown, over more than two decades, from a single store in Vilnius into the largest Lithuania-born grocery retailer owning more than a thousand stores in the Baltics, Poland and Bulgaria. During these years, we have become the first choice for many customers in the Baltic countries, where MAXIMA retail chain is the market leader. We were among the first in the Baltics to launch e-retail operations. The e-grocery business Barbora today serves customers in all Baltic countries. About 40 thousand people work in our company across all countries.
The firm business foundations that were laid in the Baltic region and Bulgaria have enabled Maxima Grupe to seek further expansion opportunities in other markets. In 2018, Maxima Grupe has acquired Polish retailer Stokrotka. This step has strengthened Maxima Grupe's position in the neighbor country.
