Western central laboratory (UAB „Vakarų centrinė laboratorija“) is a modern accredited laboratory, which performs various services, relevant to all industries for more than 50 years.

For customers we are offering:

Non-destructive testing (NDT):

• Radiographic testing – RT
• Ultrasonic testing – UT
• Magnetic particle testing – MT
• Penetrant testing – PT
• Visual inspection – VT
• Testing based on bubble emission method (leak testing) – LT
• Coating thickness determination
• Positive Material Identification – PMI (determination of the chemical composition of metals and their alloys)
• Eddy currents testing – ET
• Coating and painting inspection

Destructive testing (DT):

• Material testing (bend, tensile, impact (till -196 °C), z tests, fracture, flattening, expanding, stretching)
• Microstructure and macrostructure inspection
• Springs testing
• Damper testing
• Hardness test (Brinell, Rockwell, Vickers methods) – HT
• Welded samples testing (for welding procedure qualification – WPQR and welder certification)
• Adhesion testing

Ultrasonic thickness measurement (UTM):

• UTM for class, CAP, CAS and owner survey on any type, age, size and Classification society ships
• Preparing technological description and coordinate vessel hull repair works
• Carrying out measurements of pipelines, tanks, boilers and steam pipes with ultrasound device
• Preparing and submitting UTM report on board of the vessel during voyage, also staying in port or shipyard
• Assisting in Close-up and Special Ship survey for class surveyor
• Supervision of UT teams and Co-ordination with Superintendents/Surveyors. Supervision of prepared survey reports.

Welding inspector and technologist services (IWE, IWT, IWI qualification):

• Examination of welders – welders and welding operator`s certification acc. ISO 9606
• Preparation of welding procedure specification (WPS)
• Preparation of welding technology
• Preparation of welding procedure qualification test (WPQT)
• Coordination and supervision of welding activity acc. ISO 14731 and ISO 3834
• Company preparation for certification acc. EN 1090, DIN 2303, ISO 3834

Chemical laboratory:

• Oil products analysis (mechanical particles, water, viscosity, flash point)
• Salt tests on surface of the materials
• Surface roughness assessment
• Assessment of dust on steel surfaces prepared for painting
• Pull-off test for adhesion

Other services:

• Quality control, Project supervision, Final inspection, Document control
• Scientific research and applied activity in the study of nature and engineering
• Environment control, ecological monitoring

We are competent in IWE, IWI, NDT level 2/3 and Rope Access. In total a team of 35 employees, working worldwide.
